Morgaine Shepherd
Morgaine Schäfer (born in Wolfsburg in 1989) lives and works in Düsseldorf and Cologne. She studied photography and conceptual art as a master student under Prof. Christopher Williams at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and received the Ehrenhof Prize in 2017 for her final presentation "Westen-wschód." Her artistic work primarily deals with questions of identity. In her photographs and installations, she explores themes such as migration and femininity. In doing so, she attempts to make emotionality visible and to mediate between subjective affect and objective observation. Her works are intended to encourage viewers to engage with their origins, history, and role, and to question the effects of culture, religion, family structures, and politics on female identity.
