In addition to the established galleries, 20 offspaces and art institutions are once again making a decisive contribution to this year's program. Whether conceptual photography, expansive installations, graffiti or digital art - the focus here is on interdisciplinary approaches and social issues. Positions from artists with backgrounds at the HfG Offenbach, Städelschule or international art academies are represented.

On Friday, September 4, the weekend kicks off at 6 p.m. with a joint opening night. On Saturday and Sunday, the participating galleries, off-spaces, and art institutions will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Some art venues are already hosting opening events on Thursday evening. You can find the specific times on the websites of the participating venues.
The Art Walks (coming soon) take place on Saturday and Sunday at various times. This allows you Exhibitions several guided walks with visits to the galleries and Exhibitions . The exact start times are listed for each walk.

When does the Frankfurt galleries' Saisonstart ?
The Saisonstart will take place from September 4 to 6—traditionally on the first weekend after the summer break in Hesse. For Drei , 60 galleries, off-spaces, and art institutions in Frankfurt will open their doors simultaneously to present new Exhibitions.
What is the Saisonstart anyway?
Saisonstart Frankfurt’s galleries is marked by a major joint opening weekend following the summer break—a tradition that has been in place since 1994. For the 32nd time, around 40 galleries, as well as 20 off-spaces and institutions, will simultaneously present their new Exhibitions. It is the premier event for contemporary art in Frankfurt—open to collectors, art enthusiasts, and the curious.
Is the Saisonstart free of charge?
Yes—admission is free! All participating galleries, off-spaces, and art institutions offer free admission to their Exhibitions. Visitors can experience high-quality, curated art without paying an admission fee—making contemporary art accessible to everyone. The guided art walks have a participation fee of 12 euros, or 8 euros for those eligible for a discount.
At what times does the Saisonstart ?
The Saisonstart of the Frankfurt Galleries 2026 will take place from September 4 to 6. The opening hours are as follows:

Are there guided tours during the start of the season?
Yes. The 35 Art Walks offer a curated look at the galleries, alternative spaces, art associations, and Exhibitions Frankfurt’s Innenstadt, Ostend, Sachsenhausen, Bahnhofsviertel, Westend, and Nordend neighborhoods.
Are Walks also available in English?
Yes! The popular ArtWalks are held in both German and English. They offer a guided tour of selected galleries or institutions. Of course, German-speaking visitors are also welcome to join the English-language tours.
Which art genres are represented at the Saisonstart ?
The spectrum ranges from painting, sculpture, photography and installations to printing techniques, video and conceptual art. Many galleries show both established positions and up-and-coming young artists from renowned art academies.
