Eamon O'Kane

In his paintings, drawings, and prints, Eamon O'Kane (*1974) explores the architecture of modernism. Using acrylic, oil, spray paint, and screen printing, he creates impressive dialogues between interior and exterior spaces. His dynamic landscapes, sky scenes, and pool images merge into meditative compositions that reflect the human quest for an idealized environment. At the heart of O'Kane's artistic practice is a fascination with modern architectural visions of paradise. He draws, paints, and photographs buildings ranging from the Bauhaus movement to Brutalism, translating their utopian ideals into a contemporary visual language.

In his ongoing series Ideal Homes, O’Kane reinterprets living spaces designed by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Frank Gehry, and Mies van der Rohe. Despite their different approaches, these architects are united by their belief in architecture as an expression of visionary ideals and near-perfect form. Eamon O'Kane was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and has received numerous awards, including the Taylor Art Award and a Fulbright Scholarship.

His works have been exhibited in major international museums and institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, and the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden. O'Kane is a professor of fine arts at the Faculty of Art, Music, and Design at the University of Bergen in Norway.
