With the third edition of Sguardi / Blicke young art is once again the focus of this year's start of the season-exhibition at the Westend Gallery in Frankfurt. On September 6, 2024, an extensive show with works by 54 students from the tradition-steeped Brera Art Academy (Milan) will open. The spectrum of works on display ranges from painting to video art, from drawing to photography, from sculpture to installation. In mid-July, the works of the young artists were already on display in the Milan galleries Giovanni Bonelli, L.U.P.O., ABC Arte and Progettoarte Elm . The idea behind the exhibition is to make young artistic positions visible and raise their profile against the backdrop of the city partnership between Milan and Frankfurt. As in 2021 and 2022, the project is supported by the City of Frankfurt am Main, the Italian Consulate General and the Frankfurt Foundation for German-Italian Studies. Lecturers from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts Marco Casentini, Bruno Muzzolini and Dany Vescovi selected the students from the Fine Arts department. Ilaria Mariotti coordinated the collaboration with 12 students from the Visual Cultures and Curatorial Practice or Communication and Art Didactics department and the Painting department, whose critical texts are collected in a catalog together with short statements by the artists. As in previous years, the catalog will be published bilingually in Italian and German by the Brera Art Academy in collaboration with the Frankfurt Westend Gallery. It will only be available in the course of the exhibition, as it is intended to document the exhibitions themselves in addition to the illustrations of the exhibits.
