  • Book presentation: Frankfurt as a city of art and cultural hub

    Moderated discussion and reading with author Kenneth Hujer about his new book "All das passierte in diesem irrsinnigen Milieu Frankfurt" (All That Happened in That Insane Environment Called Frankfurt). The book is a cartographic exploration of Frankfurt that brings the cultural and social upheavals of the 1960s to 1980s to life as living city history through eleven in-depth conversations with influential personalities.

  • A city of art and culture yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

    What made the city a hotspot between revolt and the art market? The talk discusses anecdotes from then and now about Frankfurt's artistic identity with artists. How much change is there in the current cultural scene? An analysis of spirit, present, and future.

  • Eye or AI: Photography in the age of artificial intelligence

    Photography marked a turning point for the visual arts in the 19th century. Are we facing a comparable transformation with artificial intelligence? How will this change artistic practice, and will it have an impact on market mechanisms and Frankfurt's role as a center for photography?

    1:30–2:15 p.m.

    The Art Basel Report 2025 shows that collecting habits are becoming significantly more differentiated: women behave differently than men on the art market, younger collectors are more interested in digital works, design, and jewelry, while millennials are particularly interested in photography and works on paper. Are these changing interests related to questions of contemporary art production and its circulation—or not?

    Moderated discussion and reading with author Andreas Prinzing about his new book Kasper König: A to Z. A Life Collage. The book is an autobiographical collage designed as a personal glossary that documents the life and work of influential exhibition organizer Kasper König through formative encounters, projects, and his innovative role in art education.

  • Creating a collage: Art and the city

    11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

    The city has always been the starting point, sounding board, and source of inspiration for artistic production – as a motif, projection surface, and counter-image. At the same time, there is the practical question of urban culture in the broadest sense and the creative environment that shapes it. Against the backdrop of Frankfurt Rhine-Main as World Design Capital, the panel will discuss whether and how artistic and creative perspectives, cultural institutions, and urban development intersect, and what opportunities this presents for the regional ecosystem.

  • The influence of foundations, patronage, and corporate collections

    The Städel Museum, as a foundation, exemplifies Frankfurt's long tradition of civic engagement in the arts. Today, this tradition is complemented by corporate collections, financial institutions, and private patrons who have a lasting impact on the city's art scene and beyond. How can and should private engagement support cultural institutions, shape collection profiles, and have a public impact?

  • Contemporary African art: How will the hype continue?

    Contemporary African art has been experiencing a real hype for several years now. But while prices on the speculative market are currently cooling off, its global significance is being consolidated by new pan-African infrastructures and a strong presence in major museums. We talk to experts about this shift from a trend phenomenon to a lasting establishment.

The Frankfurt Gallery Art Report is based on a representative digital survey that was sent to the 47 Frankfurt galleries surveyed. A preview of the results was presented to the public at the third Talk of Galleries on October 11 at the DZ BANK Art Foundation.
