Myriam Holme
Myriam Holme (born in Mannheim in 1971) lives and works in Mannheim and on the Peloponnese in Greece. From 1996 to 2002, she studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under Professors Meuser and Andreas Slominski, becoming a master student in 2002. Since then, she has pursued a multifaceted artistic career, characterized by an expanded concept of painting that combines painting with sculptural and installation elements.
Her works are characterized by experimental material work, combining found objects and different materials to create open, multi-layered narratives about materiality, history, and value. Holme has received national and international recognition, including awards such as the Art Karlsruhe Art Prize 2019 and the Sparda Art Prize 2017. She has held visiting professorships at renowned academies, including in Karlsruhe, Munich, and Düsseldorf, and was accepted into the Deutscher Künstlerbund e.V. (German Artists' Association) in 2022. In addition to her artistic work, she is involved as a mentor and is a co-initiator of art projects in Mannheim.
Her works are represented in major collections, including the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart and the Zabludowicz Collection in London. Her work is characterized by an intense exploration of the reactions of different materials and a poetic visual language that oscillates fluidly between painting, sculpture, and installation. She attaches great importance to processuality and a balance between chance and conscious design, which lends her works a special depth and vitality. Myriam Holme is considered a crossover artist who transcends genres and breaks down the classic boundaries of art by expanding the possibilities of painting in space and realizing them in experimental, sometimes room-filling works.
