Peter Engel

Peter Engel (1944–2014) completed an apprenticeship as an offset printer from 1961 to 1964. He then studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main from 1964 to 1967. In 1967, he spent time in London for study purposes. From the late 1960s onwards, Engel worked in his own studio in Frankfurt. In 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1974, he undertook extended stays in northern England. From 1974 to 1992, he was a lecturer in painting technique at the Städelschule. Between 1980 and 1985, he also took on the role of head of teaching at the Städelschule's evening school. From 1980 onwards, he once again maintained a studio in Frankfurt.
