Starsky Brines
Starsky Brines was born in Caracas in 1977. He grew up in Maturín and later moved to Caracas. There he studied painting at the University Institute of Higher Studies of Arts Armando Reverón from 1999 to 2005. From 2008 to 2009, he completed postgraduate studies in Western art history at the Universidad Metropolitana and the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos Arturo Uslar Pietri. He lives and works in Caracas and Miami. In 2006, he had his first solo exhibition in Venezuela.
This was followed by solo presentations in Spain, Colombia, and Germany. His works are represented in important collections and institutions. These include the National Museum of China in Beijing, the Museo de Arte Acarigua in Venezuela, the Burger Collection in Hong Kong, and the Sanders Collection in Germany and Switzerland. He further developed his work with color and form while assisting in the studio of Jesús Rafael Soto. Brines was also influenced by street art and European Neo-Expressionism.
