THE MIXER
To commemorate the end of the war eighty years ago, the group exhibition is dedicated to a dark topic: how do we deal with war, violence, fears and negative feelings? Does it help to avoid the issues? Or do they return in ghostly form and haunt us all the worse?
Artists often feel an inner urge to tackle dark themes. Ukrainian artist Molly Route is currently drawing "Wartime Graphics" in Kiev. The "Veteran" by sculptor Wolfgang Aulbach evokes deep-seated wounds. Christel Funk's painting refers to violence within our society and Michaela Schrabeck to family history during the Second World War. Ji Heaun Kweon, on the other hand, subtly circles around negative feelings and the sometimes difficult rapprochement between people. The emotional penetration through art can be liberating. Nevertheless, a content warning: some of the artworks show violence and may not be suitable for children and particularly sensitive people.
