DIE GALERIE
Johannes Heisig (born 1953) is a painter through and through. With every self-portrait, every depiction of a landscape, and every representation of what he sees in nature—be it shrubs, trees, flowers, hornets, or crows—he surpasses himself in his painting. Time and again, he creates original works that are unparalleled. His unique visual world is characterized by modern event painting, which is composed of observations of various circumstances outside and inside his studio. His sources of inspiration can be found in the small details of everyday life, in art history and literature, but also in the depths of his own psyche, in the world of dreams. In his cityscapes, which always tell stories, the observing eye is very close to the action: with the punks as well as with the skaters or demonstrators. These external phenomena are transformed in his studio into powerful and energetic painterly compositions. Even in his quieter depictions of nature, Heisig's use of color and his characteristic, expressive style are fascinating.
The exhibition Weltgefühl presents new paintings and works on paper alongside works from the last 25 years of artistic creation. Parallel to the exhibition at DIE GALERIE , a cooperative exhibition DIE GALERIE at Galerie Brusberg, Berlin.
