Seçil Yaylalı

03.09.2025 - 28.09.2025
Where do I belong? Roots As a Reflection on Belonging and Identity
Exhibition space EULENGASSE

The exhibition, inspired by a poem by Mapuche poet Elicura Chihuailaf, explores roots as a powerful metaphor for identity, belonging and connection.

The focus is on Seçil Yaylalı's artistic research, which explores parallels between plant roots and human roots - in particular how people see themselves as part of a community, culture and landscape. Based on a collaboration with the Mapuche community in Santiago de Chile, the show explores the invisibility but also the power of roots - both in a physical and metaphorical sense. It invites us to reflect on origins, connections and the commonality of human experience.

The exhibition, curated by Melike Bayık (Istanbul/TR), takes place as part of the cooperative network project between PASAJ (Istanbul) and EULENGASSE.
