Art market and content

Artificial intelligence and digitalization on the one hand, collector habits that still want something tactile on the other. Or Asian purchasing power for tangible objects, the provenance of artists—these and other factors that influence a gallery's program were among the topics of discussion at yesterday's content talk in the cozy backyard of the Kaimiddendorff Gallery with Dr. Sakhile Matlhare, Dr. Sebastian Baden, director of the Schirn Kunsthalle, and Berlin gallery owner Dr. Pay Matthis Karstens.

The topic of the art market was debated, with lively audience participation, about how transparent or regulated the art market actually is, why Frankfurt collectors supposedly prefer to buy in Berlin, and the surprising fact that millennials spend the most money on art. Svenja Grosser, Head of the Contemporary Collection at the Städel Museum, collectors Dr. Sebastian Daub and Heike Strelow, as well as Bärbel Grässlin and Birgit Maria Sturm spoke spontaneously from the floor.

Both talks were moderated by art historian Dr. Britta von Campenhausen. The series of talks will continue on October 11! But before that, save the date for the 30th Saisonstart from September 6 to 8.

Many thanks also go out to Wirtschaft Hessen and Hessen Agentur, who made the Talk of Galleries format financially possible.
