To Saisonstart Galerie Hübner + Hübner Saisonstart five artists from Ghana with a fresh, stimulating take on nature, people, society, and history. These painters are poised to take the art world by storm, like Amoako Boafo, who's been a rising star since his auction successes and purchase by the Guggenheim Museum.
With his finger painting and expressive designs, he has found an impressive individual form of expression. Similar to Lord Ohene Okyere-Bour, who finds an unmistakable combination of expressionist currents and contemporary black figuration. Vibrant colors and a natural handling of ornaments from his own culture in combination with forms from classical western modernism are the strengths of the exhibited painters.
Documenta participant Kelvin Haizel explores memories in abstract paintings of colors and spaces. Kwesi Botchway reinterprets Western tradition, particularly in portraits. Cornelius Annor shows everyday life and personal stories, Dela Quarshie's hybrid tentacle people invite us to reflect on our own and society's origins. These lively dialogues of experiences from different cultural contexts openly and impressively visualize black identity and attitude to life.
