"Tatiana Urban belongs to a generation of artists who have positioned themselves in the Frankfurt art scene with independent, sensitive and at the same time visually powerful painting. [...] The dialogical, supposedly contradictory, the themes of arrival, departure, change and transformation run like a common thread through her work [...] Her visual language oscillates between form and dissolution, between nature and culture, between intuitive gesture and graphic clarity. The often floral, plant motifs are fragmented, deliberately incomplete, dynamic and indefinable. This openness arises from the principle of the processual, which seems to be inherent in Tatiana's pictorial worlds. What emerges on her canvases is neither an image nor pure abstraction, but a state of in-between - a world that is constantly building up, moving, fading and reassembling itself.
Tatiana's own formal language emerges from the combination of precise composition and intuitive style - simultaneously controlled and flowing. Formally, the artist prefers to work with acrylic or ink on canvas, in earlier series also with oil. Acrylic and ink allow for a lighter and more transparent application of paint, which determines the floating, ephemeral quality of the most recent works. [...]
Tatiana [...] draws her inspiration from a sensitive dialog with the world. Walks through botanical gardens and overgrown wastelands, observations of nature, but sometimes also news, thoughts about death and the fragile constitution of our present time flow into her painting, as it were. In this sense, her paintings are not distant dreamscapes. [...] She reflects on the relationship between man, nature and imagination in a time of uncertainty and change. Her works reflect a double longing: for aesthetic order and for a place of retreat that no longer exists intact. [...]
