The "Exophony" exhibition at KOMET K marks the kickoff of the intercultural exchange project TWOFOLD by
Five female artists living in Hesse—four with German backgrounds and one with a Korean background. The project focuses on the question of how historical divisions in Germany and South Korea continue to have an impact today and shape artistic practices. Through an exploration of art, the project seeks to find a unifying gesture for people from divided contexts.

TWOFOLD is inspired by the 30-year artistic career of Eun-Joo Shin, a South Korean artist who has been living and working in Germany for drei . Her biography exemplifies the project: a continuous, independent practice straddling two cultural contexts. This long-standing transnational presence provides concrete points of connection for an exchange with various exhibition venues in Seoul and the surrounding area in October 2027. We are using Exophony not only to showcase our work as it travels but also to digitally introduce the Korean artists who will be coming to Frankfurt in 2027 as part of the project and to launch a collaborative project involving the public.
