Andrea Grützner The photo artist Andrea Grützner (*1984; lives and works in Dresden), whose works can be found in numerous private and public collections, recently spent a lot of time photographing in the historic "Erbgericht" building on the edge of Saxon Switzerland. Schierke Seinecke is showing a small selection of pictures at the Saisonstart in Frankfurt. What looks like a collage or even a model is actually a single, analogue image that makes reference to the geometric forms of color field painting. This work is about the magical abilities of photography. It is capable of abstracting the seemingly familiar in such a way that the viewer's sense of orientation is confused. The images play with visual components such as proximity and distance, pictorial depth and boundaries, light and shadow. "Erbgericht" offers a fresh look at the original themes of photography: space, light and the reproduction of reality.
Theresa Möller The atmospheric landscape paintings by Theresa Möller (*1988; lives and works in Bremen) transport the viewer to remote places. Those who turn to her paintings embark on a journey. The pictures do not depict concrete scenery, but rather painterly fantasy landscapes. However, Möller's pictures are not landscape paintings in the classical sense. The view into the distance is often sought in vain. One does not wander over immense fields or spectacular mountain ranges. Instead, the eye is quickly caught up in a wealth of vegetative forms. The deeper the eye penetrates into the interior of the picture, the denser and more confused it becomes. Theresa Möller's pictures show a lot, but reveal little.
Anna Nero The paintings of Anna Nero (*1988; lives and works in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main) are bursting with energy. Her paintings take up the tradition of geometric abstraction with virtuosity. They are composed of sharp contrasts, bright colors and allusive forms. In their colorfulness and playfulness, her works are also reminiscent of pop art. Their appeal lies in the tension between order and disorder. Nero constructs three-dimensional spaces with razor-sharp precision, only to dissolve them again at another point and thus mislead the viewer with a wink.
